ICAD #41: Purple + Green | Link Love

3x5" gridded index card, heavy body acrylics, tiny brush
DAILY PROMPT: Make a list of 5 art experiments you would like to try.
This is the day each week where I give a pep talk. I speak to myself and to you. There are 20 cards to go, give or take a few depending on when you started. But the idea is to create something on an index card - a simple office supply - for 61 days. That's the challenge. If you are fading, remember that this canvas is really just another blank spot for your creative ideas.
Just another spot for your creativity. Just another creative outlet. You can have many. One day you might work in your art journal. One day you might draw doodles at the edge of your to-do list. One day you might swirl paint on canvas. One day you might draw a shoe. When you reach the end of the 61 days, it's not the end. It is a launching point, a beginning. A continuation. And you will fill many more blank canvases in your life. It's practice. It's experience-building. It's courage-enhancing. It's magic.
Please add a link to a specific blog post with your latest index card(s) or to a specific flickr photo. Whether you are posting your cards online or not, please leave a comment and let me know if you are really, really trying to complete the challenge. Links to your blog home page or flickr photostream will be deleted.

I'm keeping up with the challenge, and loving it, Tammy! I watched everyone doing it last summer, and didn't know if I would be able to come up with enough ideas to do a card for every day, but it's been lots of fun to go in many different directions with them. I will confess that I may not make a card every day; some days I make more than one, so that I ultimately have a card to represent every day. Thanks for the encouragement!
I have been really loving this challenge as well, Tammy. This is my first year doing it, and my first time ever doing any kind of daily art challenge. Working through this challenge and creating art every day has really been teaching me a lot about my own personal artistic style. I think that I'm feeling more comfortable in my art now because of it. I have made an index card nearly every day; I did miss a couple days one week and had to make two cards the next day to catch up. I'm so excited that now I'm nearing the end and I've actually been able to do this challenge! Thank you so much!
Hi Tammy! I'm in it for the long haul!! I've missed four or five days along the way but quickly catch up again. It's a fantastic challenge and I cannot thank you enough for hosting! xx
This challenge has been so much fun for me so far! I haven't missed a day yet, and am looking forward to using this as a jumping off point for the rest of my creative year! Thanks for the inspiration, it's been awesome!
I'm still keeping up and certainly will finish. Of all the challenges I participate in I like this because it can be quick and easy or if I'm feeling especially experimental, it can be more involved. I've tried new techniques, old techniques, blah techniques and had some successful cards and some pretty boring cards. But, better a boring card than boring art so it's a good place to get that out of my system. Thanks for hosting!
tammy you have definite insight! :)
Just added my link to my mid-week ICAD check-in on my blog (previous cards are visible upon scrolling down at the blog.) I got behind for the first time this week but I'm all caught up and on track to finish...yay!
Last year I loved using the spiral bound sets of 50 cards, so I decided to do that again and commit to finishing one book of 50 by the end of the challenge. I've done 32 so far, one almost every day since I started, so I'll definitely finish on time. I do so love this whole process -- daily doses of creativity, very easy to complete, allows me to try all sorts of stuff I don't normally do. Thanks, Tammy!
As I posted in my blog, I'm doing series now, so that three cards usually take about three days to do. Loving this challenge, not looking forward to it ending, but as my husband told me I need to do this on a larger scale - so that is what I plan on doing once ICAD 2012 is over.
yep, I'm determined to finish the challenge and carry on...
I've only done about 5 cards this summer, but that is because I always involve myself in so many projects at once. I do love the small format and it is fun to see everyone's cards. I also like to see your daughter's cards, very fun!
I am keeping up. In fact, I did an extra today...just going to post it as a bonus rather than #42 because at this point, I can't go without doing one every day! I love this challenge so much!
I'm still doing it! Hooray!
(It's a great way to work out ideas/techniques on a smaller scale)
xo

Thank you for organising all this. It has been so incredibly wonderful for me, and has sparked so many new ideas. Thank you.
Tammy, thanks for encouraging me to play even though I was getting a really late start. It's been so much fun seeing everyone's index card creativity, and I look forward to seeing and doing more :)
I absolutely adore this purple + green card.
I am beyond thrilled to have happened upon ICAD2 as this summer is my first venture into daisyyellow.com. I am definitely planning to complete this challenge and hope there are more challenges to come.
Currently I am pondering which of my creative skills I haven't used for the challenges. I am delving into art and craft supplies that have been idle for awhile during my graduate studies at TWU and my very hectic professional life as a school librarian.
Thank you for organizing this challenge Tammy! Looking forward to much more!
Thank you Tammy for the boost! I really needed it. Sometime we all need it. I am right back up and look forward to the end. Challenging....Judith, Texas
Going strong still. Last years challenge was a big part of getting into a daily creative ritual. Best habit I have ever formed. Here's to may more "canvases"!
oh *YES* i am loving the challenge, and feel confident of finishing. this was just the thing i needed having somehow lapsed from art journaling the first half of this year. if anything, i'm a bit sad at the thought of it ending in a couple of weeks... the prompts REALLY keep me going and i'm afraid i'll slack off without them. THANK YOU again for doing this, i'm having a blast! ♥
Absolutely I am going to complete this challenge! I haven't missed a day yet and I don't intend to start now that the end is in sight :)
The one thing that miffs me is that as I have got busier and busier at work I haven't been able to keep up with commenting on EVERY card in the Flickr pool. I did for the first few weeks (I'm Thursday.Next over there, hello Flickr peeps!) but then I went away for a few days then came back to a mountain of work and I have never been able to catch up :(
I love the challenge and can't wait each week to see what you have dreamed up for a prompt.
Blessings
Diane
oh, I'm definitely hanging in there....an awesome experience. I may have to make up for starting late (only 4 days) but I will make it happen!!!
I am soooo behind on posting my cards! But I am loooving all this wonderful work people are doing!
Had to play catch up this week, but I am still going...and keep forgetting to comment after I put up my Link... so this is a bit late. but I am going to end up with a great stack of cards. I need some ideas for how to store them. Wondering about decorating a box or maybe making a fabric bag...what do you think?
