a snapshot of the art stuff i want to do {at the moment}
Mon, October 24, 2011 at 06:00AM Projects, mediums, ideas galore! I needed to get this list out of my head. I stamped the cards with teeny tiny alphabet stamps and added the background in photoshop. Do you have a big list of art stuffs in your head? This is the stuff I want to do, right now, like, this minute! It's a lot of stuff, no doubt.

I want to paintdrawsewcollagedesignembroiderdoodlewatercolor... but since I can't do it all at once, I do a little here and a little there. To support your own efforts to get artsy and craftsy, focus on what you DID do and not what you DIDN'T do.
This week I worked on:
#1 exacompta journal: painted several backgrounds
#3 cityscapes: i added more detail to the cityscape i'm drawing
#7 collage quilt: i stitched more fabric swatches to the backing fabric; washed all new fabrics
#9 index cards: worked with acrylics, alpha stamps, mandalas
#13 write art journaling wkshps: recorded/edited/dubbed video of the art journal process for El Parquesito Creativo {session 5: the cup is half full}
#17 video techniques: recorded/posted a video
This week I planned/purchased stuff for:
#4 speedball drawing nibs and ink {bought pointy speedball nibs}
#8 quilted journal covers {bought quilting stuff to put between the sewn fabric and the hard cover of the journal}
Which leads me to ask you these two questions about your creative endeavors this past week. Include anything that you consider creative... testing new recipes, writing your outline for NANOWRIMO, etc.:
What projects/artwork did you work on this week for at least 20 minutes?
In what other ways did you move forward on projects, ideas/artwork this week? i.e. research, figure out how to do something, set up workspace, organize embroidery thread colors, sketch cat, purchase something needed for the project.

First, WOW, that is an impressive list of to dos. I'm on a "catchup on some back projects before you start new ones" After a weekend away from home, I worked on my Vintage Gluebook ( a class I'm taking from Mary Green) This happpened because I purchased a little carpenter's ledger for 50cents at an antique store. Just the right thing for one of my pages. I finished three spreads and did some planning on how I might finish the cover and closure. I was very pleased with myself. As far as catching up before starting new...well... I was dreaming about another project, mulling it over and over in my head, so looks like my mind just changed my mind. Hope you understand. Has this ever happened to you? Sometimes it just takes new materials and sometimes the projects come through thoughts in the night. Can't wait to hear about your new projects because of the inspiration you send each post. Hugs. bb
i am SO glad to know i am not the only person who has a creative to-do list a mile long! i am constantly adding things to it and i never seem to catch up. glad you got some of yours done. :)
Very impressive list. I had a very creative week. I finished a few two-page art journal backgrounds and did a whole lot of mindless collage. My next project is to embroider a pair of Tom's knock-off shoes from Payless for my daughter based on some of her tree art doodles. It's the perfect project to do while waiting at dance/scouts/music lessons this week.
Oh girlfriend! 20 min? Lets just say longer than that. lol. I've been wanting to draw a picture of a black cat wearing a witches hat. I didn't really have a clear picture of a cat in my head so it could have turned out cartoony or realistic or whatever well it seemed the cat was determined to be realistic and that kind of drawing is difficult for me. So i was at it all weekend. Oh the hat came out perfectly. The cat under the hat is turning out to be more difficult! At least by now you can start to tell its suppose to be a cat. At least i think you can Who knew cats were so hard to draw!. lol Next on my list is an owl. You have a great list going . I try not to let my list get that long or i'd get discouraged. Hugs! deb
I worked on the El Parquesito, then on my Halloween Art Journal. Also took a photo walk (pics of fall). I must say there is a lot of new concepts for me in your list......
What a fabulous list - I must try some of those things. I've been working on my art journal a lot this week - I was experimenting with drawing people and trying to get in a bit of light/shade/skin tone so I spent quiter a lot of time on that as well as other little bits and peices. i've also this week, and in this past couple of weeks been following Rhomany's whimsical workspaces course over on willowing and I've just been feeling so creative and energised due to all the new space and having all my art materials out where I can get at them.
I've been in a creative slump for a while now but yesterday, I managed to create a little bit: I worked on the covers of a new art journal for a round robin. I also brainstormed ideas with my mom and best friend for my Nanowrimo novel.
I have a long list of creative things I want to do... I just need to start DOING something... :-)

I keep so many lists to get the things out of my head. I have started to approach creative time like I do most everything else - with a schedule and a to do list. It's not very "romantic" but it has helped lots.
wow! i'm not nearly so ambitious! what did i do this week? i crocheted hexagon motifs for a blanket; i knitted a baby blanket; i sketched; and i painted portraits. not so much ;)
i want to art journal more; spin yarn; and collage bookmarks. i'll get there. i have everything i need. i just need to time manage.
I WISHED and DREAMED about crafting while I nursed my poor arthritic hands back to health.
I THOUGHT about organizing my craft studio.
I was INSPIRED by your blog about crafting......I AM INSPIRED
Are you for hire to come to my house to help my get organized?
wow awesome list, so many things I want to do as well. Never ever enough time but so good to plan and dream. It is a continual process to enjoy what I do get done and try to be happy there and not fuss with what I do not get done. This past week, finished quilting a quilt, layered another one. took photos, decorate for the season, made some card prototypes. Cleaning out what was kids art area . . . back to Laundry . . . . Art has not left the house but needs to happen in a different way than when they were younger. last night we all decorated papers that will become plates for dinner use. It was fun to see them all _ Dad included work on this. My daughters is not done as she is a mandala girl with lots of detail.
Whew! That should keep you occupied for a while! :) I would put many of those same things on my own list. This week I have helped my daughter with sewing together a quilt for her bed, and planned the layout for my other daughter's quilt to go with it.
That's quite a list. My goals are a little more modest, possibly because I do have a toddler to contend with.
Anyway,
Finish the painting/word art I'm making for my synagogue's nursery. I finally cut out the lettering this weekend, but I don't like the color so I think I need to paint carefully over it. Fortunately it's not that big.
(It's got swirls and planets and the words "And by Him all things hold" which makes sense in my head if not to anyone else.)
I've been playing with a variety of little paintings, about 5 inches square. I printed out a cell phone pic and painted around it (inspired by this blog), I tried a faux-embossing technique I saw somewhere else and now I have no idea what to do with it, and I'm working on a third with some reverse-stenciling action
I finished my first novel last week and at some point this week I need to get into editing it. Or next week. Sometime.
