Print Article "The longer I live
the more beautiful life becomes.
If you foolishly ignore beauty,
you will soon find yourself without it.
Your life will be impoverished.
But if you invest in beauty,
it will remain with you
all the days of your life.
~ Frank Lloyd Wright
NaNoJouMo found me working with black gesso as a background for these art journal pages. How do you use black gesso? The same way you use white gesso! Be sure to shake well, and you will only need one coat to cover pretty much anything. After adding some images on the gessoed pages, I doodled with neocolors and (are you sitting down) journaled on the page. It's rare, but it happens. I wrote in pink gellyroll on wavy white lines, thinking through each phrase as in Slow Journaling.
I wrote about the creative energy that is going on, that the more art I do the more I want to do! This is the front inside cover of the book ~ it was originally an odd shade of burgundy. If there is one color I don't like, it's burgundy. But I loooooooove black ~ check out Wicked Black Background.

Whoo-Hoo! I'm sooooo happy to see words on your page! You've done an awesome job of these pages, Tammy! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Love your journaling with black gesso. I love black gesso on the pages because it is so chalky and toothy. Doesn't it make the images you glued on just POP out of the page. Wonderful work!! Leanne.
Wow. Your journaling is very gorgeous. Love the way the writing looks.
(Just found you on Lapaz Farm comments.)
Terri, Thx for the nice words about my rare journaled words!
Leanne, Thx again for the award! I LOVE working with black gesso, I used to use it more and forgot about it!
Kellyi, Nice to meet you and I'm glad you stopped by via LapazFarm. These pages turned out better than I had imagined, thank you for your kind words!

I really like these pages! I tried some black Gesso the other day (thanks to your recommendation) and it was fun! And I am hoping to get some of those Neocolor 2 crayons for Christmas. Tired of making due with lesser quality tools, especially after seeing your gorgeous work with them. You are such an inspiration to me!
