Altered Book: red.orange rev 2.0

"Remember this: Nothing is written in the stars.
Not these stars, nor any others.
No one controls your destiny."
— Gregory Maguire, Wicked

This page started with a really simple background made with a brayer. The original page is shown at Altered Book: red.orange rev 1.1. I drew the letters in black Gelly Rolls and this week I'm really getting into the detailing of the letters (it's almost meditative), as I did with Messy Pinks.

How I wish I could write as poetically!

"Those who dream by day
are cognizant of many things
which escape those
who dream only by night."
~ Edgar Allen Poe

With art journaling DOING the page is really the point of all of this. There is no rush. You could work on the same page for a week, a month, it really doesn't matter how many pages you crank out. And if you write one word on a page in pencil, and that speaks for you that day, cool. Who is telling you otherwise?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this quote. It's actually been going through my mind since I found it the other day. It's almost spooky, hence the witch at the corner!

Tammy, you can do amazing Word Art, too???? I love the way those words turned out! Love them!!! As for the quote, it speaks to me in such a way as to keep my mind open and let my imagination play ALL DAY!! This is a really fun way to live, why wait until bedtime? Did I tell you I LOVE this page?

Eden, You are such a sweetie! This quote is like an inside joke for creative people. We notice things that others around us do not. And of course sometimes that means that they think we are bananas. Like at a soccer game when I took a photo of a utility meter, because it was interesting!

Tammy, I just love reading your blog. I've been reading it for some time now. You are very inspirational. I will post on my blog soon a journal page inspired by something you posted a while ago. I just finished it this week.
I read your comment about taking a picture of a utility meter and I had to laugh. On a recent trip to the city with my family I was snapping shots of the security camera in the train station and the parking meters on the street. My husband was thinking I was nuts.
Thanks for your continuing posts.
