Art Doodle Love Blog Hop!
Fri, February 8, 2013 at 07:59AM “It is good to have an end to journey toward;
but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
Ernest Hemingway

As a former quant jock, number cruncher deluxe... this old accounting paper is the perfect background for doodling. My goal was to draw without any repeats.

A mandala on Dawn's supply pages.

The full page of doodles. I invented new patterns and work to refine others.

Of all of Dawn's journaling prompts, this was my fav. Prompts about my childhood home.
Two words: Tollhouse Cookies. That sums it up.

This was the first page spread that caught my eye. The random drops and splotches provided just enough backdrop to the doodle chaos that ensued.

Here's the page I'm working on now. I like the fact that I can draw on a painted page yet the page is perfectly smooth. The paper is really lush. My decision is to doodle with more enlightenment. I don't really know what that means but it sounds refreshing.

I've been drawing on the pages of Dawn DeVries Sokol's new book Art Doodle Love: A Journal of Self-Discovery. Drawing. On the pages. Yes!!! The book is all about - colors + doodles + fresh ideas + prompts to invite your ink and paint to the pages. It's like a bunch of art journal backgrounds are at the ready so that you can collage, doodle, glue or stitch in photographs, whatever you're in the mood to do. Dawn sent me an advance copy of the book which was JUST released. The book traveled around in my purse for a week and I doodled inside at every opportunity, using a black gellyroll and a black slicci pen. The ink rolled onto the pages fluidly.
You can pop around the blog hop and see what everyone is creating in Dawn's book:
Feb. 2: Pam Carriker
Feb. 3: Samantha Kira Harding
Feb. 4: Aimee Dolich
Feb. 5: Jane Davenport
Feb. 6: Carla Sonheim
Feb. 7: Tracie Lyn Huskamp
Feb. 8: Tammy Garcia
Feb. 9: Carissa Paige
Feb. 10: Mindy Lacefield
Feb. 11: Dina Wakley
Feb. 12: Tamara LaPorte
Feb. 13: Jill K. Berry
This book would be perfect to take on a trip where you want to take just a few art materials yet create something with color and imagery. You could take this book, a few rolls of washi tape, pens + gelly rolls, a stapler... and collect fun things to put inside. On the flight or in the hotel room, you could use the prompts to write. Just a thought.

WOW!!! Very inspiring post.... I purchased a book new (on sale) to just use as a doodle book.... Sibella Court's "Nomad". Backgrounds are already there just waiting for embellishing!
Totally need to get my hands on a copy of this book :)

Love what you did with these prepped pages. I would have a hard time working on something like this, but I do love the look of Dawns work.

Wow! Your doodling style is very similar to my own. I, too, love to fill a page to the max. Although, I must say your precision is something to which I aspire .

Oh, Tammy...your doodle spreads are just absolutely breathtaking. I could just stare at them for hours. Gorgeous! I was interested in Emie's comment above, because I have the book Nomad...I need to go take a look at it and see if I want to use it for my own doodling! I write in books all the time, but don't usually draw in them.
Love love love the doodles. So many, so pretty!
Tammy these pages are my most favourite ones that you've ever done! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the detail and busy-ness!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Seriously, your work is amazing! I am so glad I was able to see your work . . . . Thank you for sharing, you are an inspiration for sure!
Amazing doodles!! Love your pages and your blog Tammy! Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
The last time I wrote in a book was in January - then we caught the flu and didn't let it go until the beginning of February. I don't really right much, but I mostly draw or make something artsy because I don't know what to say. I've said it before in the previous posts on the other lady's blogs, but I love the idea of the prompts!! Maybe they will help me to doodle more and write more in my book, which is the next goal of mine.
Thanks for sharing your amazing doodles,
Hugs,
Carmen L
