Art Journal: Morning

"I'll tell you how the sun rose a ribbon at a time."
~ Emily Dickinson

"We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly - spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order."

~ Susan Taylor

Morning is a loose art journal page on 9x12" watercolor paper, with a simple layer of collage, white gesso, edged with Golden fluid acrylics, a bit more collage, and journaling... a touch of neocolors.

Because I do most of my writing on the computer (it's less taxing), I rarely write on my art journal pages. One morning I woke at 6:30am and couldn't get back to sleep; got up and made green tea with jasmine and enjoyed the pale light from the high windows and dreamy silence of the house at that hour. And I wrote. I wrote about the morning. If anything could make me a morning person, it would be this. The chaos of the day had not yet begun. I heard the ticking of a clock, reminding me of a metronome, or perhaps it was a leaky faucet.

Or not. Why You Should NOT Wake Up Early Tomorrow from Sufficient Thrust. I am not a morning person, nor do I want to be. On school days, I am forced to wake up before I am anything but awake... but once in a while on the weekend when it's quiet, it's a lovely luxury.

I am SO not a morning person, but I can "see" you sitting in the early morning light enjoying the stillness. Hope you had a great day! Hugs, Terri
