Birdhouses

We have a collection of 37 hand-painted, multi-colored wooden houses which have never housed birds, only the imagination of our children. If we were to sort them chronologically by child, we would see their progress from thick brushes grasped by fist, to layer upon layer of thick color, to well-differentiated sections of color and now a carefully selected palette with details like stripes or dots. Tracking the gradual development of fine motor skills, use of the brush, managing paint and even learning to clean brushes along the way. Birdhouse by birdhouse.
