Brown Inspiration

{Click mosaic for to go to Flickr for full photographic credits}

The infinite addiction to color continues. I think my daughters have it too, as evidenced by their vocabulary ~ an aquamarine pencil, turquoise paint, magenta paper. I love putting these collections together. But Turbotax awaits and I must finish doing our taxes... after all someone has to fund all those "shovel ready" projects that will {not} fix the economic chaos.

I love color words, and brown is definitely one of my favorite colors. Such beautiful names for all the different shades too.

One thing I've noticed is that color awareness generally doesn't cross over into the male half of the species. A conversation I once had with a friend:
Me: "Hmm, I wouldn't normally wear red with purple, but I'm cold and this sweater was handy. I think since its a bouganvilla shade it will be ok."
Him: *blank look* What?
Me: See that flowery bush on the hill? That's Bouganvilla."
Him: *stares for a moment* That's red.
Me: But see how its just a little bit pinkish purple?
Him: All I see is red.

Hehe, silly boys.
