building a rainbow {5 days of color}: orange or yellow
Fri, December 2, 2011 at 10:00PM [PAGE DOWN to ADD YOUR LINK to THE LINKY LOVE]

We're building a rainbow, want to help?
{the details of the challenge are here in this post}
Suggestions: an art journal page, a sketch, a doodle, a painting, a mixed media work, embroidery, crochet in one main color.
Here's where you go to add a link to your art for each color - there are linky lovies on each page.
DECEMBER 1: RED or PINK
DECEMBER 2: ORANGE or YELLOW
DECEMBER 3: GREEN or AQUA
DECEMBER 4: BLUE or PURPLE
DECEMBER 5: BLACK or WHITE
ORANGE!
{our color hostess for orange is i am rushmore, find Karen's wonderful introduction here}
For orange, I did some art on 9x12" watercolor paper in a roundabout way. First I had an orange-red frame of acrylic paint, then I drew a mandala in black paint. Hated it. Poured a major blob of gesso on top, covered it, and started painting another orange-yellow frame. Then I scraped the paint, while wet over the goopy gesso, with a wierd straw I found at a tex-mex restaurant bar. That gave it texture. Then, finally, the new mandala and more paint.
YELLOW!
{our color hostess for yellow is syrens idyll, go check out her marvelous introduction to YELLOW}
I painted yellows on 9x12" watercolor paper in fluid acrylics... let them dry for a few hours then lettered a quote with gellyrolls.
Please post your link(s) to your artwork in ORANGE and your artwork in YELLOW (you can link twice, if they are in separate posts), as we begin creating our rainbow. {please link to the exact post, not the blog home page}

I will check back to see your wonderful photos. Apparently orange makes me work incredibly fast. I should check into this for when I am running behind on something! Thanks for the challenge!

I really love this. I'm working on the red and yellow (I was home really late yesterday)
I'm glad we'll be going around again - we've been sick and I don't have as much energy for art as usual. Or anything else, for that matter. So I'm focusing on one color and getting others in if I happen to feel like it.
How are you handling hostessing for the next round? Or are we going without? I'd be happy to go again, with a different color - or of course if others want to do it who haven't had a chance they should get to.
I usually don't like Orange or Yello but today you've challenged me to get out of my comfort zone!!
