Buildings #2

"When you aim for perfection,
you discover it's a moving target."
~ Geoffrey F. Fisher

6x8" Strathmore drawing paper, pitt pen, background added digitally

Drawing buildings is dangerously addictive. The colorized buildings were merged with abstract acrylic paintings in photoshop. There are a lot of tiny lines in this little rectangular space. Fantastic line drawing practice. I draw the outlines of the buildings first, and then fill in details and more details until each building seems complete! I'm starting to add names to the buildings or stores, address numbers, advertisements... More buildings in Buildings #1 and Plaza.

Wow! There's a subtle change in these from the first set. Amazing. What a wonderful canvas/adaptation for your line-work and patterning. Love that middle one, too, with the hints of color.

*Aimee, I like inventing my own world!

*Eden, My kids name some of the buildings, so it works out wonderfully random. And it took us months to name our dogs. But the payoff is that we love the names!

*Sophie, I'm finding myself drawn to sketches of buildings and I love the whimsical possibilities.

*Amy, The sets are definitely evolving. The next two (yet to be posted) are 9x12", much more potential and easier to draw the details on larger paper!

*Kate, Having fun is what doing art is all about - it keeps me happy!
