Casino Mandala

"I am sure it is a great mistake
always to know enough to go in when it rains.
One may keep snug and dry by such knowledge,
but one misses a world of loveliness."
~ Adeline Knapp

Certainly it can't be that I am running out of names for mandalas? I named so many in the past month for the challenge(s), a month of caffeine-induced, rapid-fire art journaling and mandalas. If you have a name for this mandala, leave it in the comments!

I want to congratulate everyone who met their writing goal (or tried damn hard) for NaNoWriMo this year. I think doing art every day is EASY compared to writing! I enjoyed the forward looking post I Wrote a Novel, Now What? from the folks at NaNoWriMo.

  • Kudos to Sophie of The Art of [being] MissKoolAid for completing NaNoWriMo (56,627 words!) and for documenting her December goals in her blog, in English, with bonus French.
  • Congrats to Eveline of Timeless for exceeding the Nano goal, coming in a whopping un-edited 50,270 words, a multi-year Nano participant. I loved Eveline's advice to keep editing notes so that you are not tempted to go back and re-read or edit during the month.

Amidst all of this art, I have neglected my personal writing. I've not written in my [non-art] journal since this summer (gasp) and I cannot let that be the last entry of 2009. So between now and year-end, I want to write a bit. I sit down to write and I do anything but writing! Aside from holiday-related goals, what do you have as goals or challenges to accomplish by the begninng of 2010?

P.S. Thanks everyone for your name ideas for this mandala. I finally named it "Casino" taking a clue from the board game suggestion in the comments. You guys are so helpful!

Isn't that the Space Out mandala? I think it is! Goals, oh gosh, time to think about those now? Already? :-)

I think "Board Game Mandala" is an appropriate name. Love your blog.

How about titling it The Mother Ship?

Wow, you guys are a very creative bunch. I love all of the naming ideas! You've really got me thinking. I am leaning toward a board-game themed name. I didn't see that imagery, but after Debbie suggested it, I can see it. I also like the trekkie, spacey ideas from Eden, Hanna and Lizbeth. I could use that for my mandala-in-process! ~ Tammy

It looks to me like a UFO hovering over the earth from a bird's eye view, you know, like you are looking down on the hovering craft. I guess the green with the textures remind me of trees. Let us know what you decide for the name.
