Clarifying Ideas

"The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts.
Think only on those things that are in line with your principles
and can bear the full light of day.
The content of your character is your choice.
Day by day, what you choose,
what you think and what you do is who you become.
Your integrity is your destiny;
it is the light that guides your way."
~ Heraclitus

When life is such that I cannot do any art, I take an idea and let it develop over the course of a few days. Here's how it might come about. I drive by a house with a unique window. The window reflects a cloudy blue sky. The lines of the window swirl around my mind. How can I translate that to my art journal? Criss-crossed lines surrounding abstract images? Clouds painted with white gesso for journaling? Letting an idea swirl around your mind is a good way to make progress in your art without your materials in front of you. For example, mosaic pottery might inspire a pattern for a stamp. It reminds me of one sentence journaling, where you develop and refine a sentence over the course of a day and write it in your journal when you are able. This week: I dare you to make progress on a project with words and thoughts.

I'm feeling the quote and I like the idea of an one sentence for a journal entry. A project with words and thoughts. That's interesting.. have to think on what that might be.
