Constructive Photography

“I think the big mistake in schools is trying to teach children anything, and by using fear as the basic motivation. Fear of getting failing grades, fear of not staying with your class, etc. Interest can produce learning on a scale compared to fear as a nuclear explosion to a firecracker.”
~ Stanley Kubrick

Our school is expanding into the barn, so I wandered around a bit when things were quiet. The mid-morning light through high windows allowed some interesting shots. Not perfect lighting, to be sure. I found the angles of wood, old bricks and the remaining few odds and ends from the barn interesting.

It's one of the few times I've gone somewhere specifically to photograph, rather than taking photos while exploring or doing something else. I might take a tripod next time?

Two years ago we visited Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in Western Pennsylvania. The girls still talk about the house, for it is unforgettable. Enjoy this digital movie of Fallingwater by artist Cristóbal Vila. Just a few minutes in length, simply amazing.

Love your pics. When I read Kubrick's quote, I immediately wondered whether or not he'd attended Catholic school! I myself, am too familiar with the fear learning factor thanks to the crazy Franciscan nuns who taught me right through High School. So much for exploration and discovery!!! Maybe that's why I have an insatiable curiosity and need to learn now that I'm older! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Your photos are beautiful. I especially like the first one.
