If you know how to use - truly use - your sewing machine, you have a mystical gift of transforming cotton into creations. What do you create? Aprons. Dresses. Star Wars cloaks. Quilts. Camera straps. Doll clothing. Handbags. Artist Trading Cards. Extending the life of your favorite jeans. Saving the physical discomfort of sewing curtains by hand.

I'm not there yet, but...

... I see a glimmer of hope that I might just figure out how to make stuff with this amazing invention.

Loving the sewing sessions! I'm currently making curtains but when that's finished I am going to do some 'sketchbook' sewing and see where it takes me.

I can't even get my sewing machine (which is a decent one) to sew through paper so we're on the outs. My husband rescued it from me and brought it upstairs so he could use it in bookbinding.

I am truly fascinated by your sewing journey and fresh perspective.
I grew up sewing, and as a teen found that sewing my own clothes stretched my wardrobe. I sewed diapers and clothes for my toddlers, costumes for their dance class, Halloween costumes on demand - but I've never seen it in that magical, creative way you do. Perhaps for me, I grew up seeing it as a practical household skill, and perhaps a craft, but never as an art: often (especially for dance) as a chore. I've derived satisfaction from sewing, but can honestly say, never joy.

So it's an eye-opener to me that someone can see sewing the way you do - a gateway to creativity, and a gift. Thanks for that perspective.
