Creative Experiments #12: May

"The fundamental truth: a baseball game
is nothing but a great slow contraption
for getting you to pay attention
to the cadence of a summer day."
~Michael Chabon

The May Experiments
Daisy Yellow

For tracking purposes, each experiment is valued at one creativity point unless otherwise noted.

♣ Peruse a hardware store for tiny things to use in your art, from wire to paint chips
Carve an eraser stamp
♣ Create an art journal page with one color + black + white... you can mix the three of course
♣ Develop a summer project list for your kids or yourself (2 points per list)
♣ Create art focused on numbers; numerals of any type, numbers as symbols, the concept of numbers, math, geometric shapes or counting
Create-Your-Own-Experiment (this is like a Joker card, use it as you wish)
♣ Describe an amusement park from your childhood, in words or mixed media art
♣ Do a mind map, project webbing, participate in a brainstorm or list pros/cons for a decision
♣ Read a book about creativity, creative projects, photography, art, design or writing
♣ Set a timer for 12 minutes. Write a stream-of-conscious page about a favorite song (like top 10)
♣ Work a sudoku, jigsaw or crossword puzzle
♣ Create art involving fiber; i.e., sew on an art journal page, make a friendship bracelet, knit, use fabric in a collage, dye/stamp fabric

Here's how it works!

  1. The list of Creative Experiments is posted on the 1st of each month
  2. Decide how many Experiments you want to do, this is your personal goal
  3. Work toward your personal goal
  4. Grab an ART=HAPPY badge and share the words
  5. Send me the URL to your experiments and I'll link!

[As a reminder, please do not copy/paste the experiments to your site, as excited as you are to do them, as they are copyright Daisy Yellow. Please link back to the list if you wish and of course post your experiments to share!]

Add creativity to your life, one step at a time. by doing creative experiments.

Sophie of For Love and Idleness has documented her success with the April experiments, with bonus photographs! Do you have any feedback about the creative experiments project?

Your blog is so much fun! I could spend hours (days?) following all the links and so forth! Hope i can join in on this in May, but that will require that I get off the computer and start creating! :)

I love your blog but I don't often comment (shame on me). I come here almost every day for inspiration. Thanks!

What a brilliant idea! Grabbing and goal making now. :)

I always love these ideas you post.
The ones I feel drawn to this month are the eraser stamp carving and the black+white+ one colour journal page. Hopefully I will end up posting the results :-)
Thanks for the prompts.

Tiffani and Amber, Please stop back and let us know how your month of creativity went! So true, if we are on the computer we are not painting. We are not drawing. We are not embroidering, we are not... you get the idea.

Kirstin, It's good to know there are folks visiting often, and I do so appreciate comments. I know they take a few minutes, but they really mean a lot.

Liberty, I might do the B&W+ one color project with my kids this summer. I think it's such an interesting concept. Good luck!

I'm glad I found your site ! I'm trying to cross your prompts with the theme of "Creative Every Day", intuition. You bring on the wonderful technique ideas. Divin' in now ! Work in progress on my blog. A newbie artseeker from France.

Scylliane, Nice to meet you! I will pop over to see your creative adventures.... isn't it fun, gathering ideas, trying new things, new materials? I don't think I will ever tire of it all.
