Creative Experiments 2012.rev.01

“Be careful about reading health books.
You may die of a misprint.”
Mark Twain

I love the rainbowness of this page in the exacompta journal.

Creative experiments come in different flavors!

{What are creative experiments? Learn more here!}

Let the 2012 Creative Experiments Begin!

Each month, I post a set of creative experiments, prompts to inspire you to try new things based on extending something that you already know how to do. Can you believe this is the 28th set of experiments? Twenty-Eight?

Check out the entire series of creative experiments to earn creativity points each month!

Experiments are by nature experimental. Don't take them too seriously. Don't worry about the outcome. Only the DOING matters. You get creativity points for the DOING.

For tracking purposes, each experiment is valued at one creativity point unless otherwise noted.

Paper Quilting. Go through your loose art journal backgrounds, doodles, abstract watercolors, etc and pick several to cut up to make a a paper art quilt. Cut them into 2x2" squares and glue them down all over a page in a grid like a quilt. In a pattern or random.

Circular. Create art or write about a circle, the idea of a circle, or something round.

Newness. Experiment with a new art material related to some form of art that you do. For example, if you embroider, try couching or use metallic thread. If you draw, try drawing on larger paper. If you watercolor, go pale with your colors (more water, less paint) so there's barely any color, but you can see it.

Written. Write your thoughts in a journal on 3 consecutive days this month.

Wish. Pretend you have an all access pass to learn or accomplish three (3) new artistic things in 2012. What's do you wish for? To draw circles that look like spheres? To be brave enough to attend an art retreat? To buy a dozen neocolors and use them in your art journal? Fill an entire moleskine with ideas? Swap mail art with another person? Learn how to use the (A) aperture priority setting on your DSLR camera? Make the list!!!

Grab an ART=HAPPY badge, and get started.

Check out all of the creative experiments!

[Please do not copy/paste the experiments to your site, as excited as you are to do them. The content is copyright Daisy Yellow. Please do link back to the list and post your experiments to share.]

Fun ideas. I will definitely be doing the "written" one as I want to write on a daily basis this year. Happy new year Tammy!

Love these, Tammy! I see several that "get me going"...I especially love paper quilting, so I'll be playing around with that one for sure!
