Draw, Draw, Draw

"A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes,
will ask himself at least four questions, thus:
1. What am I trying to say?
2. What words will express it?
3. What image or idiom will make it clearer?
4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?"
~George Orwell, Politics and the English Language, 1946

5.5x8" exacompta journal, pitt pen, altered

When I drew this, I was sitting on circus-inspired fabric with triangular fringe and pom poms on the tassles, facing a mural of a whimsical tooth fairy with flowing ribbons on her wand! This page sort of morphed into drawing practice. Cross-hatching, parallel lines + rectangles within rectangles. Added the watercolor background (painted a while ago) digitally.

It was a long wait, so I also read more of Peterson's Understanding Exposure. This is like the 4th intro photography book I've read this year but this one is making it finally sink in and make sense. Maybe I need a cheat sheet... but I don't know what to write on it!

Here's the other drawing I did at the dentist, plus lots of posts on drawing practice, including Line Practice.
