Draw Your Purse

These drawings are from 2008. I set up a still life of two purses at the the dining room table and sketched them in pencil. After pitching a few attempts in frustration, I was working on a third when my older daughter, then 8, asked if she could sketch as well. She drew a fairly quick sketch and that was that. No stress, no fuss. Such a different experience for each of us! She simply drew. I had a vision in my head of what my drawing "should" look like! We "grown-ups" need to constantly remind ourselves to focus on the process and the outcome will be whatever it will be!

Your daughter is very talented. She draws what she sees! If only.....I have a real hard
time doing still lifes.....I am much better at drawing off of a picture. I may just draw my
purse today! Thanks for the inspiration :D

Your daughter's drawing is wonderful, Tammy! I keep some of my grand-daughter's art in my studio to remind me to see with the eyes of a child and, most of all, it reminds me to have fun!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
*Eden, Perhaps drawing from a photograph is easier because it's 2-dimensional? I'd never thought about that aspect, might go back to photos!
*Terri, I like your idea of looking at children's art just to remind ourselves what art is all about.
