Exacompta: Neocolor Circles

The paper in the Exacompta is textured with tiny lines, so I'm trying to find the best way to use this texture to my benefit. If you paint with Golden fluid acrylics using an ultra-dry brush and paint at an angle, you get the coolest effect, with the paint just catching the top of of the lines. The rough areas of the first page, Kandy, are like that.

The rest of the pages are just drawing lines, trying to get used to using the neos to get the effect I'd like. Lightly, in preparation for blending with a wet brush, or super intense and saturated.

After doing these pages in neocolors (more neocolor drawings here), I doubt I will further explore oil pastels. I can get the effect I'd like with a much easier to handle art material. Oil pastels are much more taxing on the hand - to me anyhow - than neocolors.

Experiments are, for me, a way to see what I want to learn more about and what I will try, satisfy my curiosity, and move on.
