The white sky is stark white behind the crape myrtles.
We have to keep the pool running to keep it from freezing, yet still icicles.
There's been 2-3" of ice on our street and sidewalk since the wee hours Tuesday morning. We live in the DFW are and they do not maintain salting facilities so roads are not salted as they are in the northeast where I grew up. Gravel is spread on some major roads and overpasses.
Kimba is cozy and warm.
For the third day, schools are closed tomorrow across the city. [Update, schools closed 4 days straight, and big puffy snow fell on Thursday night]. Tonight temps will dip to 11 degrees F with wind chill negative 2. I wonder when this will begin to melt.
Rolling blackouts were announced, but we haven't lost power. The kids built forts upstairs - involving a great deal of blankets, flashlights and stuffed animals - so that we have a place to go when we lose power.
Oh, and I've lost my voice.

WOW! It's so weird to see snow and ice in this area of Texas. I'm in northwest Austin and we are supposed to get snow tomorrow. There was rolling blackouts today too but we were spared. I'm from the northeast as well and will be staying off the roads because I know most Texans don't know how to drive in winter conditions.;) Stay warm!
The weather is crazy in a lot of places lately. So strange. We had a snowstorm yesterday. Not as bad as other places but it wasn't fun.

Wow as well, you are not supposed to get this kind of weather. I can't imagine that much ice in an area that does not routinely get cold weather. Good Luck! Pool Maintenance through it must be a challenge.
Hmph! The Uk was about as prepared as this, and we don't have the excuse of usually being warm ;-) Hope the thaw comes soon, and your voice comes back soon!
I like the sound of the forts though - cosy.
I'm from south Louisiana and they're having similar issues. It's crazy when it's colder in Louisiana than it is here in New York.
It's Friday night, and it just keeps getting crazier! We have 4-5" of snow on top of 2" of ice! We went out to photograph (me) and play (kids) and it was fluffy but not snowball-snow as we called it in Pennsylvania.
