Journal Big!

"So much time, so little to do...
(wait a minute), strike that, reverse it."
~Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka

18x24" art journal collage on drawing paper
fluid acrylics, fluid matte medium, neocolors, ephemera

Stumbled upon a HUGE wire bound tablet of drawing paper in a drawer of unframed art, so I got out the paints and tried a creative experiment! At 18x24" this page is HUGE compared to the 5x8" or 9x12" sizes I usually work with. A year ago this page would have been overwhelming. The page is so spacious. You feel like anything is possible. I decided not to paint something completely new, but rather a large art journaling page. Everything is scaled larger - you can use large images (or hide small ones), full pages, and vary the color within the page.

You've got to try this.

Other experiments this past year include Doodle Embroidery, Abstract Batik Psychedelic Mandala and Neocolors in Moleskine.

I love this page and you've given me a great idea. I have something similar just lying around waiting for a project and I never thought to use it for art journaling. I love that idea. Thanks.
