Linear Textures in Red

fluid acrylics + comb = linear texture

An abstract rich red background on 9 x 12" heavy cardboard, the back cover of a wire-bound watercolor pad. To get this texture, I dropped dots of Golden fluid acrylics on the cardboard and spread them out with a plastic gift card. With a wide-toothed plastic comb, I made horizontal and vertical lines... alternating and adding paint until I got the look I wanted.

Abstract art makes a brilliant background for art journaling, or you can cut abstract art into anything ~ artist trading cards, inchies or book marks. Try this in an altered book, on watercolor paper as a loose art journal page, in a journal or moleskine or on the edge of a retro scrapbooking page.

I experimented with a comb and fiber paste at Linear Textures in Lime. Yummy.
