List: Faux Mixtape | Songs With Lots of Words

9x12" drawing paper

Golden fluid acrylics, gesso, handmade hardware stamps, ephemera, decopatch decoupage paper.

Are you playing List It Tuesday at Artsyville? I've been having fun creating impromptu lists the past few weeks. This list is a faux mixtape of songs with lots of words. I printed the song titles with a tiny brush and carbon black fluid acrylics. A bit of a mess, but the phone kept ringing and the paint kept getting gunkier. At the half-way point, I almost trashed it, for the crappy lines and the glaringly horrid palette behind them.

So, without delay, songs with words that wedge in your brain even though you can't diagram a sentence, let alone a martini. [DISCLAIMER: word count not verified]

  1. Blinded by the light - Bruce Springsteen
  2. Rappers' Delight - The Sugarhill Gang (had to look it up)
    •  I prefer the wacky spanish interpretation Aserejé by Las Ketchup
  3. The Remedy - Jason Mraz
  4. American Pie - Don McLean
  5. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
  6. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
  7. Hotel California - The Eagles
  8. Freedom at Point Zero - Jefferson Starship
  9. One Week - Barenaked Ladies
  10. Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind
  11. Alice's Restaurant - Arlo Guthrie
  12. Walkin on the sun - Smashmouth

Do you have any more for the list?

what a neat list idea!
I remember the days of making mix tapes! there was a real art to that... much different than whipping up a mixed cd in iTunes.

I am actually afraid to go look up the songs from your list that I didn't recognise... I am super prone to getting songs stuck in my head (often that I hate). Almost ANYthing by the Barenaked Ladies drive me batty and won't go away! the only song I've liked by them ever is Another Postcard. I know... Canadian not liking BNL=sacrilege LOL!

p.s. I remember being in my teens and listening to stairway to heaven over and over and over on purpose!

p.p.s. I am so impressed at your painted letters - that is really hard to do nicely!
