Map Making Madness

 My older daughter (11) was reading a magical illustrated book called The Secret Lives of Princesses and in the middle of the book is an engaging map of a country where princesses live, with intriguing keys and legends and codes and routes and tiny buildings. The map in the book inspired this map of an imaginary land. She worked on this for a few days and is thrilled with her map!

Tammy, you might want to check out Ken Jenning's (the Jeopardy winner) new book "Maphead". I haven't read it yet, but heard a fascinating interview with him on NPR.

This is gorgeous - i might just have to try it own in my own art journal! When I was younger i loved the Milly-Molly-Mandy books and they always had a map at the beginning and the end and I loved being able to visualise where everyone was and the shortcuts she used to take to school and so on :)
