Cactus-filled photos from a field trip to the Fort Worth Nature Centure & Refuge. The 20+ kids in my younger daughter's class of 1st-3rd graders had a great time. These shots are from the "prairie" area of the refuge.

Thanks for posting these of the area where you are is now. I can't imagine seeing the cactus in the wild like that. There is sun here today- I need to go be in it!!!
If you get a chance take a day trip and go to Athens in East Texas to the Fish Hatchery. They have a great aquarium there with all kinds of Texas fish. The big display filled with catfish you can feed is a big hit with the kids. They also have a small lake where you can fish and they will supply poles, etc. It's a really nice picnicing, day with the kids thing to do. They even have a tram ride around where you can see the ponds where they raise the fish they release into lakes in Texas.
