Sparked by a tip from Sophie that neocolors work great in the Exacompta, I expanded my experiments.
Caran D'Ache Neocolor II wax crayons to be precise, are one of nature's perfect art supplies. They have a negative 46.1 decibel carbon pawprint, plus 73.6% of art journalists surveyed considered neocolors crucual art materials.
There are a lot of cool ways to use neos outside the art journal. The kids and I played with Neocolors + Water and Neocolor Circles. Did some Neocolor Mandalas. They look psychedelic on black gesso in Altered Book: neon.black.
As fodder for testing, I did a Daisy Yellow prompt! It was a good excuse to have something to post to the new Daisy Yellow Prompts Flickr group. Three pages for this prompt from The July Creative Experiments: "Create a painting or art journal page with no images, using any color + black + white + words." The words are in invisible ink. Really.
PS. What's missing from this post?

oh WOW! I love every one of those so much!
This has a different feel to it than so much of your other work... and at the same time it fits right in and has a thread of the same 'energy' flowing through it.
I have no clue what's missing unless it's specific colours. :-)
I love the red and black and white one.
Love the moody cityscapes, especially the red one :) And the quote is missing....I enjoy them too!
Liberty, Thank you for your happy words today, I love the feedback. The buildings are usually so fine and delicate and wonky in pitt pen, and such a different mood, I agree.
Amy, Yes! Although it pains me to post without a quote, I was curious to see if anyone would notice. As I say to my kids when we do something like take a different route home from school... "change of pace, guys, change of pace." Thanks for noticing!

That's very cool. The cityscapes remind me of the gray, rainy day I'm experiencing right now.
I know what's missing: the quote! I love your pages, but I'm not sure what exacompta is. I shall google and find out!
Hey, thanks for the mention Tammy! I'm just catching up now after a visit with parents and extended family. Lots of stuff like making gargoyles, cookies and perogies - now I get to spend some time drawing, I hope.
I'm reminded that it was actually my mom who introduced me to neocolors and they were a great favorite of all the grandchildren when they were younger.
I still love them, though mine are getting a bit busted up and broken.
Spooky, exacompta is a brand name for papers, pads and sketchbooks. The exacompta sketchbook is a terrific book with slightly textured paper that's great for pen, pencil, crayon, watercolor. There's quite a few reviews out there - here's mine, which also includes links to other reviews:
