Productive multi-smashing of acrylics

“It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data.
Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories,
instead of theories to suit facts.”
― Arthur Conan Doyle

smashing details

If you are going to smash paints, you might as well multi-task. So I smashed pages in the exacompta, a loose art journal background and an index card or three. For the exacompta pages, I actually started with a layer of peachy paint, then played around with the japanese brush I found at the craft store, with dry brushes of black paints on the first layer. When I started smashing, it sort of rubbed off some of the black dry brush marks which was a neat effect but I'm not sure I could replicate it!

Smashing is seriously messy. Use protection.

This is my art for day TWO of Art Every Day Month at Creative Every Day. Pop over, there is still time to join!

Oh what a beautiful smashing of paints! I especially love the last photo....all of the colors and goodies to play with on your table..... :-)

✭✭✭ {Tammy}: Dianne, Yes, the creative chaos is magnetic, it draws me in to paint and paint and paint and forget about things like vacuuming and dinner!

Oh, what joy. Love the serendipity of it! This is now on my to do art list!!!!!!

✭✭✭ {Tammy}: Carolyn, I cannot begin to describe the fun you will have smashing paints. It is so playful and childish in a good way!

✭✭✭ {Tammy}: Kris, It's really quite smashing! I hope you have fun with your acrylics. Thank you for saying hello.

Wow that looks like fun - I certainly feel like smashing not only my paints but my paintings on a regular basis. I LOVE color ... apparently so do you.

✭✭✭ {Tammy}: Yes... I am addicted to many good things, and one of them is vivid color. I wonder if this look could be created on canvas... why not?

I´m one to multitask as well. How do you smash your paints?

✭✭✭ {Tammy}: Paula, There's a bit of info in this post: http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/getting-into-flow-smashing-acrylics.html Basically you put several drops of paint here and there on your page and close the pages so that they "stamp" each other with paint splotches. You can smash an index card or another sheet of paper on as well.

What oughie goohie goodness!
