This post is not about faerie houses.

This is about finding something that intrigues you.

A scene that you can photograph in every season.

In every light.

From every angle.

Pick something you see every day. Something fairly permanent in your garden, a windowsill in your kitchen, a birdhouse, a sculpture, curtains, a car, a sign.

Experiment.

Photograph it in every imaginable way.

Over a period of time. Over a few seasons.

Practice.

Pick something that doesn't move, to simplify your task. To add a constraint.

Learn.

Different f-stops. Different seasons. Different angles. Different background. Different depth of field. Different light. Different weather. Different time of day. Different distance. Different things included or excluded.

I live by the beach and find the changes, almost after every tide, endlessly fascinating. Today it's rather wild and windy so who knows what I'll see when I go for a walk when the winds abate a little? Sometimes I photograph it - maybe I could take one from the same spot each time.
