Square Mandalas #2

"In my case, I used the elements
of these simple forms -
square, cube, line and color -
to produce logical systems.
Most of these systems were finite;
that is, they were complete
using all possible variations.
This kept them simple."
~Sol LeWitt

I'm having crazy fun drawing mandalas on square paper in black PITT pen extra super fine (XS). I'm making daily progress in an 8x8" wirebound journal of Clairefontaine 300g cold-pressed watercolor paper (available at Writers Bloc). The top mandala photograph is pretty much the story of my life the last few weeks... mandalas, PITT pens & my adored Nikon camera. On the second mandala, I was playing around with what to call it and doodle-scribbled some names around the edges but ultimately chose Pebbles. If you click over to Flickr you can see more detail. Your doodles are a great place for Line Practice.

If you are playing along in our step-by-step art series, don't forget Step #847: Title Your Artwork and Step #716: Date Your Artwork.

More doodlie fun...
