Tunnel 6 Doodle

"Another belief of mine: that everyone else my age is an adult,
whereas I am merely in disguise."
- Margaret Atwood

"tunnel 6" 5x8" watercolor moleskine journal, pitt pen (xs)

This was a fun doodle to draw. When I reached what appeared to be a stopping point, I left the drawing for a day and worked on another doodle, contemplating whether to doodle inside the paisley or leave fresh white space... ultimately I went for the doodles, leaving a little white space. My younger daughter (7) named this "Tunnel 6" for me. [Note: watercolor added a few weeks later.]

I find paisleys difficult to draw; they never quiet look like the elaborate designs I find in textiles and cultural art. The doodles radiating from the center of the paisley were inspired by Art Journal With Markers at Eden's blog.

My watercolor moleskine journal is filling up incredibly fast, the happy result of lots of sleepless nights in early January. I didn't realize it at the time, but I think I made lemonade from bitter lemons!

Sorry to hear about your sleepless nights. Hope you get well soon!

Lovely doodle - I love the way the centre of the paisly "pops out" from the radiating doodles.

That quote is just perfect - that's my quote to share then ;-) Slowly ticking off my challenge list.

Hope you feel better soon.

Tammy, that's a really good doodle! I must say I cheat a little with paisley stencils, found at any of
your local craft stores. Hope you are on the mend :D

* lizbeth, modern drugs are amazing, so i am gradually breathing better... but my moleskine misses me late at nite.

* sam, wow! i didn't think of sharing a quote from daisy yellow, i LOVE that idea. i think i am addicted to quotes. good luck with the creative experiments challenge.

* eden, thank you for letting me know that paisleys are indeed challenging... i thought it was just me! i think i need some sort of reference material, maybe fabric swatches, to learn the details and flow of paisleys...

your degree of fine motor control while in a sleep deprived state is truly fantastic!

I love trying to draw paisley, but they usually end up looking like one-celled organisms with flagella...
