5x8" moleskine, pitt pen
When I looked at this mandala from a distance, it reminded me of the totem poles and the native art of Vancouver and western B.C. I worked on this in a few sessions this week, finishing today. It's not one of my favorites... I like the center area but the outermost square just seems kind of bulky and heavy. Sometimes when I'm not loving a mandala I keep going and it all works out, I figure out what it needs. Ha! Just noticed that I didn't finish the lines across the top corner!

Beautiful. Love this mandala.
i want to spin it!
Don't be hard on yourself. Maybe a wash of something to draw attention away from the areas that you think are too heavy? Love you line details.
Angie, Thank you!
Sue, That would be fun - to make our mandalas REAL so that we can play with them!
Diane, A great idea, to be sure, but when I've worked this long and I'm still not loving it, I know it's better to move on! Don't worry, I'm not hard on myself regarding my art (other things, perhaps)!
