i'm using my regular watercolor paint set-up {details here} with Winsor & Newton half pans
the kids are using two types of Pelikan watercolors: Opaque Watercolors and Transparent Watercolors
When we got home from school one day last week, my younger daughter was raving about "painting whatever we wish, blindfolded" so we set up the table with postal paper, watercolors, water jars, brushes, paper towels and paper.
By the time we were set up, just a few minutes later, the blindfold idea was dropped and happy painting ensued. My older daughter painted abstracts and mandalas and my younger daughter painted a witch and an abstract in her 18x24" Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper Pads. I painted a mandala on a new Strathmore 12x12" square watercolor pad.
{and yes, my kids watch TV ~ their current favs are "I Love Lucy" and "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Penguins of Madagascar}

Oh this is super cute. I wish I had girls to paint with. Maybe I should adopt some children to have some studio friends...?! Or maybe not. Anyway, a square watercolour paper? How awesome.
That is such a great quote! We homeschool and I can't pull out paints during school hours because then everyone else wants to paint, too!
Hanna, Perhaps you could adopt an artist group of some sort! Yes the square paper is cool- I have an 8x8" Clairefontaine watercolor pad, wirebound, and I adore it. This Strathmore 12x12" size is great as well, though the paper is not as lush.
Tiffani, The most productive art sessions around here are actually when I start painting or beading or whatever and the girls get curious and start too... but of course if we had other stuff to do, that could be a bad thing!

I love that you blindfolded them!! And I don't know if I could paint anything coherent if I was!! I can't paint anything coherent even when I'm not blindfolded!! All I know is, I'd want to be hanging out at your house if I were a kid :D
Eden, Ha! First they wanted to paint blindfolded - but then they changed their minds. I had even spread brown postal paper on the table just in case! And yes - our house is definitely a fun place to hang out. As long as you like big dogs.
