Wonderland

"Each juggler should be trained
in the ignorance of the laws of physics."
~Stanislaw Jerzy Lec

5x8" watercolor moleskine, pitt pen

One night, I awoke coughing. Unable to get back to sleep, I made a cup of hot tea w/honey and started to draw. I find drawing & doodling such a calming experience. The drawings are for fun, for physical and mental challenge. There is no pressure to be symmetrical, to be correct, to be salable. No deadline.

Here's a twist, a challenge I gave myself as I was starting this one. The challenge is to start with a square or linear shape and work inward, then start working outward from the center... bringing everything together with some sort of cohesion!

More mandalas with square components: Casino, Fringe, Diamond, Fortune.

Working from the center outward is comfortable, so this is out of my comfort zone. How will you challenge yourself this week?

Funny you should mention "challenge" . . . . . . I've been taking DJ Pettit's online Photoshop workshop. Plenty of challenges there!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Another wonderful mandela!!! I've got to ask, do you use a small ruler for your straight lines? I so want to color this in! LOL!

*Terri, Anything related to Photoshop would be a fun challenge! I adore PS.

*Eden, All of my mandalas are freehand. No gadgets used. Now you see why I need so much line practice!

you made something terrific out of a sleepless night - thumbs up! i really enjoyed the bits about your process (working inward vs outward) - i had never really thought about that before!

*Chaotic Beauty, Thx for your well wishes. I am indeed feeling better thanks to modern meds.
*Aimee, It's my analytical side that has to add a challenge when I doodle. It makes it more intriguing for me.
