Wooden People

kids art project - wooden dolls painted with acrylics

After reading about little wooden people on SouleMama this winter, I enthusiastically added this project to our summer art list and ordered a variety of wooden "people" from Casey's Wood Products in Maine. We were impressed with the quality of the wood - so smooth.

We used craft acrylics and small brushes to paint clothing, hair and faces on the wooden shapes. My daughters enjoyed this project, even though painting mouths proved to be a challenge even with a tiny brush. To paint buttons on the clothing, we dipped the back end of a paintbrush in paint to make a perfect circle.
