Write | This Moment

"Life is pretty simple:
Some works. You do more of what works.
If it works big, others quickly copy it.
Then you do something else.
The trick is the doing something else."
~Leonardo da Vinci

This is the first in a series of creative writing prompts for art journalists. Use these prompts to work through your un-written art journal pages, as a warm-up to creative work (like stretching before a bike ride) or to slam perfectionism + procrastination.

THIS MOMENT

Get a journal, a legal pad, something paperish. Get a little box and collect writing materials. Colored pencils, neocolors, markers or watercolor pencils. Today we'll be writing in COLOR.

Sit outside on your porch, an outdoor cafe, on a park bench. Get some fresh air. If you need to be indoors, sit at a table near a window with natural light. Write about these few moments. What you hear and smell and see. The way the light streams through the clouds or windowpanes, the shadows, the lyrics of the song, the crisp white paper, the color of the grass or floors, people talking, the clothes dryer spinning, the scent of Clorox. Create a mental snapshot to remind you of these moments of your life. Work on this for at least 20 minutes.

If you want to see a page where I tried to be mindful of what was going on around me, see Morning.

A little bit of everything...

Love, love, love today's quote, Tammy! I'm a HUGE Leonardo fan, and I've never heard this quote before. Hugs, Terri xoxo
