I'm teaching a watercolor class in 2013.

The workshop, Watercolor Playground, is one of 21 art journaling workshops available at "21 Secrets." All of my workshops focus on technique, with feedback, suggestions and advice as you learn. You'll start from the beginning and create four beautiful pages with watercolor painting techniques that can be applied to your art journal pages and abstract watercolor paintings.

Find student artwork, read lovely comments and learn more about my Watercolor Playground Workshop.

April 1 - December 31, 2013

At 21 Secrets, we are having so much fun, I hope you'll join us! Here's a little peek at the pages we will create in my Watercolor Playground workshop. You'll find a community of artists immersed in creative pursuits.

Register for 21 Secrets!

The Workshop runs through December 31, 2013

This is the only workshop I have planned for 2013.

The Museum of Simple Things: An Art Journal Workshop

{Workshop is now closed}

Alter a hardback book into an art journal as you learn 5 art journaling & acrylic painting techniques.

♥ 5 new unstructured + flexible art journaling techniques ♥ a focus on acrylic painting ♥ 9 tutorial videos ♥ 34 pages of full-color instructions in PDF format ♥ 1 podcast ♥ 7 kick-start art journal prompts ♥

These acrylic painting techniques can be used well beyond your art journal. The techniques are freeing because they are unstructured. I share with you the beauty of just letting yourself get immersed in your paints and your art journal and not get bogged down with rules.

Kind reviews from participants:

"... the workshop offers a fantastic chance to really play, and enjoy the messy process, as well as developing new skills and using different materials." ~ N

"I have loved making pages for each lesson in the workshop, learning something great from each and just plain having fun! I still have more ideas to play with and that's a great thing about having extended access to the workshop. The time frame and the build up of techniques allows me the room to let it all evolve. I highly recommend your workshops for their laid back ease and generous inspiration." ~ C

"I love Tammy’s class because it’s focusing on the creativity process rather than how to create a specific product. There is good instruction on the techniques she features while being very open-ended. It’s been easy to incorporate these ideas into my work without feeling like I’m copying or recreating hers. The techniques are adaptable to a variety of materials and I find myself combining the things I learned in different lessons." ~ K

"You have certainly found your calling in teaching these classes - please keep it up!" ~ K

THE WORKSHOP: We will alter a hardback book into an art journal while learning 5 new techniques {with infinite variations}. Techniques are guided with videos, instructions in full-color PDF format, example photos, kick-start prompts, Q&A forum and tips galore. There's even a podcast! My goal is to provide methods of creating art journal pages that you can twist and turn and use in all sorts of ways. My pages are quirky, chaotic, and utilize different types of acrylic paints, ephemera and photographs to speak your truths. We will focus on SIMPLE THINGS that we see and experience every day. Small moments, glimpses, fine points, feelings, the concept of selective noticing that you have been seeing in my noticing journal here at Daisy Yellow.

SCHEDULE: The workshop materials are available 24/7 via the Daisy Yellow website. Create at your own pace, in your own space, on your own schedule.

MATERIALS: A detailed listing of workshop materials will be provided upon registration. If you plan to take the workshop, be on the lookout for a hardback book at least 1" thick that you can destroy use as an art journal. A book with a sturdy spine, non-glossy paper pages. You'll also need fluid matte medium {the adhesive}, a few junky brushes, Golden Airbrush acrylics {or fluid acrylics mixed with fluid matte medium or airbrush medium} and Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid. The full art materials list will be provided upon registration. Also! Start collecting ephemera from your daily life. Catalogs that come in the mail, candy wrappers, fruit labels, index cards, tissue paper, ticket stubs, some abstract photos, maps etc. for collages. You'll also want to have Parchment Paper (sold in the grocery baking section, usually near the wax paper and aluminum foil, I use Reynold's) to place between the pages as they dry so they don't stick together.

FORUM: Participants have access to a workshop discussion forum, a positive, supportive space to ask questions, get feedback & meet creative people. There's a private Flickr group to share your artwork or work-in-process, if you wish. The purpose of the forum is to provide Q&A, helpful tips, workshop support, positive feedback, and a way to communicate with each other during the workshop.

REGISTRATION: Registration is open through August 2, 2012 now closed, sorry! After payment is sorted out, I'll send a confirmation, art material list and workshop access instructions to the email address in your paypal profile within 1 day.
